Ana Kavcic Pucihar

Ana Kavcic Pucihar is recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship Award in the academic year 2014/2015.
As Head Instructor of Flute at Skofja Loka Music School (Slovenia) and active performer, she has been researching holistic approaches in teaching young beginning flute players for the past 10 years.

She collaborated with Blaz Pucihar on two internationally recognized collections of pieces for young flute players: Flavta se igra/Flute at Play and Lunina čarobna flavtica/Luna’s Magic Flute.
They merged practical experience of having intensively worked with children, theoretical concepts of effective learning and colorful musical imagination in their Flute Method book Igramo se flavto, published in 2013.
In her Fulbright project Effective Teaching strategies for flute beginners, translation and adaptation of the Pucihar Flute method, Ana Kavcic Pucihar collaborated with dr. Nicole Molumby and Blaz Pucihar at the Boise State University in Idaho to create an English translation of the method book – Fluting Stars.

Ana Kavcic PuciharShe is an active clinician, presenting seminars on effective flute teaching methods for flute teachers throughout Slovenia, the USA and the UK.
Her flute students receive numerous prizes at Slovenian and international flute and chamber music competitions. Many of her students continue their studies to become professional flute players.
In 2015 she was awarded the Slovenian National Gerbic Award for outstanding flute teaching accomplishments.
Ana Kavčič Pucihar studied flute at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana, Slovenia (Bachelors 1999, Postgraduate studies in Flute Performance 2001, Master’s Degree in Flute Pedagogy 2011). She continues her studies at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana as a doctoral student, researching teachers’ work strategies in individual instrumental instruction of the musically gifted students
