From the outcome, the Trio d’Argent has always drawn its inspiration from the polarity between the “inside” and the “outside”, apprehended through cultural worlds the ensemble encountered while touring the world. This essential element in their evolution took form through the development of the projects they encountered in terms of aesthetics and through the building of bridges to other artistic disciplines : plastic arts, circus, dance, theatre…

With a constantly renewed “souffle” (breath), the Trio d’Argent conceived a unique sound material quite remote from the standards usually attributed to the “flute” as a classical instrument. With the addition of three bass flutes, three G flutes and three piccolos as well as various traditional bamboo flutes, the Trio keeps enriching the sound spectrum in unexpected ways.
